THE FOLLY OF THE NEW WAY TO FIGHT A WAR!!

Tuesday, December 08, 2009

NAVAL STATION NORFOLK, Va. — Two Navy SEALs accused in the mistreatment of an Iraqi suspect in the 2004 slayings of four U.S. contractors were arraigned in military court Monday, and one SEAL said he was gratified by support from the public and some members of Congress.

The judge scheduled courts-martial next month for Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew McCabe of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Petty Officer 1st Class Julio Huertas of Blue Island, Ill. A third SEAL will be arraigned later.

The SEALs have received an outpouring of public support on the Internet, and a California congressman has led a campaign urging Defense Secretary Robert Gates to intervene. About three dozen protesters, including the mother of one of the slain contractors, stood outside the Norfolk Naval Station gate Monday morning holding signs of support.

McCabe is accused of striking the detainee in the midsection, dereliction of duty for failing to safeguard the detainee, and lying to investigators. He deferred entering a plea until his Jan. 19 trial.
McCabe told reporters he was confident he would be exonerated.
“I feel very good about it,” he said as he made his way through the crowd of supporters, shaking hands and thanking them. “The support is phenomenal. It makes us feel better, all these people being behind us.”

While this travesty was being perpetrated in North Carolina at Camp LeJunne The nation’s highest-ranking military officer told soldiers and Marines Monday that the insurgency in Afghanistan has grown in the last three years and he expects casualties to rise next year as additional U.S. troops pour into the war.
“This is the most dangerous time I’ve seen growing up the last four decades in uniform,” Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told about 1,000 Marines at Camp Lejeune.(and I believe it is the most dangerous time that our brave men and women have gone into battle because they have been ordered, as they were told by MulleN yesterday, that if we kill a dozen terrorist Taliban but also kill one or two civilians during the fir fight . It is not a victory! We have to protect the civilians!)

My question is this:. Admiral, how do we determine that people who mostly wear robes that can HIDE underneath an AK-47, that those among the ones shooting at our men and women, are not potential killers?

Many attending Mullen’s talks at Camp Lejeune and Fort Campbell, Ky., will be sent to Afghanistan after this Christmas aspointed out in President Barack Obama’s plan announced last week.

After the first of the year, the Marines will begin sending an additional 6,200 from Lejeune and Camp Pendleton, Calif., the Pentagon announced Monday. The Army will also begin sending in the first of its forces in the spring — a training brigade with about 3,400 soldiers from Fort Drum, N.Y. Three brigades from Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division are also heading to Afghanistan and about 4,100 support forces from various places will deploy early.

“We are not winning, which means we are losing and as we are losing, the message traffic out there to (insurgency) recruits keeps getting better and better and more keep coming,” Mullen said. “That’s why we need the 30,000 and in particular, and you are the lead on this, getting in there this year, over the next 12 months, almost in lightning bolt fashion.”

Mullen told 700 soldiers at Fort Campbell that military leaders believe they have 18 to 24 months to reverse the insurgency, in what he expects to be a tough and bloody fight.
“I am sure we will sustain an increase in the level of casualties, and I don’t want to be in any way unclear about that,” he told troops at Fort Campbell. “This is what happened in Iraq during the surge and as tragic as it is, to turn this thing around, it will be a part of this surge, as well.”

“I expect a tough fight in 2010,” Mullen said. ( what he did not say to the Marines, was that they only have 18 months to accomplish the mission. Then the President has promised he will withdraw!!)
Many questions from soldiers and Marines focused on the role of Pakistan and America’s NATO allies in containing al-Qaeda and the Taliban and on the July 2011 withdraw date.

Mullen said the 2011 date is not an end or withdrawal date. Not exactly what Obama said when he gave his speech to the cadets at West Point!
“In the long run, it is not going to be about killing Taliban,” Mullen told the Marines at Camp Lejeune. “In the long run, it’s going to be because the Afghan people want them out.”( never in my life have I heard a senior officer say war was not about killing the enemy! McArthur and Eisenhower have been be making back flips in their graves!

Just why this aristocratic admiral is the Chief of Staff of the Armed forces is evidentially because he believes as Obama does that we can win over our enemies by being nice to the civilians. Forget about the axiom “kill or be killed”. As Winston Churchill said in 1944: “No folly is more costly than the folly of intolerant idealism.”War is about killing the enemy before hey kill you!!

Mullen also said, “in the long run, we are anxious to get at al-Qaeda and the leadership that resides in the border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Strategically the way you do this in my view is to bring pressure from both sides.”So he expects the Pakistani military to help the Marines, but all the reports(and there are few) about the location of Osama bin Laden are that he is hiding in Pakistan with full knowledge of the Pakistan government who either cannot locate or will not capture him. I would not expect too much co-operation from them!

The thrust of this post is that it appears to me that we are sending brave men and women, all volunteers, into HARMS way with orders to give Miranda rights to any one they capture and to not shoot until they are shot at. NO WAY TO WIN A WAR!!!

THIS IS NO WAY TO WIN A WAR

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

While the Secretary of Defense Gates, said when asked if the U.S. would send more troops to Afghanistan, He would have to evaluate the COST! A Cato report exposes the fact that the bureaucracy that Obama is rapidly expanding within the Federal government has received continuous raises to the point where the pay exceeds the Private sector.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis has released its annual data on compensation levels by industry. The data show that the pay advantage enjoyed by federal civilian workers over private-sector workers continues to expand.

The George W. Bush years were very lucrative for federal workers. In 2000, the average compensation (wages and benefits) of federal workers was 66 percent higher than the average compensation in the U.S. private sector. The new data show that average federal compensation is now more than double the average in the private sector.

In 2008, the average wage for 1.9 million federal civilian workers was $79,197, which compared to an average $49,935 for the nation’s 108 million private sector workers (measured in full-time equivalents). The federal pay advantage (the gap between the lines) is steadily increasing.

The federal advantage is even more pronounced when worker benefits are included. In 2008, federal worker compensation averaged a remarkable $119,982, which was more than double the private sector average of $59,909.

What is going on here? Members of Congress who have large numbers of federal workers in their districts relentlessly push for expanding federal worker compensation. Also, the Bush administration had little interest in fiscal restraint, and it usually got rolled by the federal unions. The result has been an increasingly overpaid elite of government workers, who are insulated from the economic reality of recessions and from the tough competitive climate of the private sector.

It’s time to put a stop to this. Federal wages should be frozen for a period of years, at least until the private-sector economy has recovered and average workers start seeing some wage gains of their own. At the same time, gold-plated federal benefit packages should be scaled back as unaffordable given today’s massive budget deficits. There are many qualitative benefits of government work—such as extremely high job security—so taxpayers should not have to pay for such lavish government pay packages.Source: Cato Institute

So it is more important to our Congressman and Senators to pay their bureaucracy then to provide the troops and weapons to fight in Afghanistan it appears to me!
Gates was quoted as follows in the Atlantic Council web site:

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, "any recommendation for more forces would have to address his concerns that the foreign military presence in Afghanistan could become too large and be seen by Afghans as a hostile occupying force.

"Clearly, I want to address those issues and we will have to look at the availability of forces, we'll have to look at costs. There are a lot of different things that we'll have to look at," he told reporters.

"While there's a lot of gloom and doom going around ... I think we have some assets in place and some developments that hold promise," Gates said on a visit to a Lockheed Martin factory building F-35 fighter jets in Fort Worth, Texas.

Many people who are daily contributed to blogs are young people who have no knowledge or recollection of the disaster that occurred in the Philippines during the first months of World War II.
On Corregior and Bataan the Army defenders ran out of ammunition and were forced to surrender to the attacking Japanese, who took their prisoners on the Bataan Death March!
The Bataan Death March (also known as The Death March of Bataan) took place in the Philippines in 1942 and was later accounted as a Japanese war crime. The 60-mile (97 km) march occurred after the three-month Battle of Bataan, part of the Battle of the Philippines (1941–42), during World War II.

The march, involving the forcible transfer of 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war[1] captured by the Japanese in the Philippines from the Bataan peninsula to prison camps, was characterized by wide-ranging physical abuse and murder, and resulted in very high fatalities inflicted upon the prisoners and civilians along the route by the armed forces of the Empire of Japan. Beheadings, cut throats and casual shootings were the more common actions — compared to bayonet stabbings, rapes, disembowelments, numerous rifle butt beatings and a deliberate refusal to allow the prisoners food or water while keeping them continually marching for nearly a week in tropical heat. Falling down or inability to continue moving was tantamount to a death sentence, as was any degree of protest or expression of displeasure.20,000people died during the march! Source:Wikapedia

My purpose of including the preceding narrative of what occurred over 60 years ago, is that if Obama and Congress continue on their path to establish the welfare State of America and ignoring the brave troops who are in Afghanistan, We,in my opinion will have the equivalent of the death march by attrition. Our troops are dying because they are charged with such obtuse orders as giving captured Taliban forces their Amanda rights on the field of battle, and the objective of the Commander of Chief and the Generals in the field are directed to wage a counterinsurgency that protects the population in Afghanistan! Politically correct pieties instead of the command to kill or be killed, and given the troops and munitions are necessary to accomplish the mission in Afghanistan. Or as George Will said in his Post today:"we should withdraw"!
will result in a modern day equivalent of Corregidor and Bataan.

VICTORY IS THE ONLY JUSTIFICATION TO SEND OUR TROOPS TO WAR!!

Saturday, July 25, 2009

VINCE LOMBARDI THE PATRON SAINT OF THE GREEN BAY PACKERS. Once said: "victory isn't
everything, it is the only thing"!

Of course Vince was a football coach, but in his mind if you put on the pads you should want and expect to win!
Unfortunately we now have a Commander in Chief of our armed forces who thinks it is perfectly all right to send our young men and women into harms way(aka war) without the objective being to attain victory!
The "meat grinder"of war has claimed 58,159 victims in Vietnam, 52,246 in Korea without a victory, and now as I said in a blog six months ago, apparently Obama wants to repeat the debacle of those two killing fields.

OBAMA has ordered 21,000 additional American troops to Afghanistan, mainly in the south where Taliban militants have made a violent comeback after a U.S.-led coalition topped them from power in late 2001. The U.S. expects 68,000 troops here by year's end, double last year's total.

When the president sends men into a war zone, peace keeping action, or United Nations police action as the Vietnam and Korean war were called. There are deaths, serious wounds to mind and body of those who are sent to fight. I think it is tantamount to dereliction of the duties of the office of POTUS, to send troops off to die unless they can be allowed to win! The words out of Obama's mouth apparently indicate that he thinks differently! As this statement illustrates:

"President Obama has put securing Afghanistan near the top of his foreign policy agenda, but "victory" in the war-torn country isn't necessarily the United States' goal, he said Thursday in a TV interview.

"I'm always worried about using the word 'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur," Obama told ABC News.

First of all, the smart and eloquent man who speaks with a silver tongue does not know that the Emperor was in his palace while the Prime Minister signed the surrender on the battleship Missouri!!
Since Obama took office 33 Americans have been killed in action. Untold number have been wounded, since the media no longer reports the statistics. But it appears 4330 brave troops have been killed in a valiant effort to win a victory over the Taliban. However, their commander in chief thinks it is not important!

Not only has the CIC said victory is not his objective, but apparently his commander in the field is more concerned with "collateral damage" than winning at all costs. He said this recently.
"We must avoid the trap of winning tactical victories - but suffering strategic defeats - by causing civilian casualties or excessive damage and thus alienating the people," McChrystal said in a recent statement.

Once again I want to state that it is criminal to send men to war unless you allow them to win!!

THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH BEING UNINFORMED

Monday, April 27, 2009

The problem that I have whenever I think of the disturbing things that are occurring in the USA today. Economic meltdown, spending by Congress out of control, weakening of our defense capability and the rapid erosion of personal liberty. I think that the fact that anyone under the age of fifty(50) has never experienced a war allows a mind set that denies the horrors and sacrifices of war.
Being a senior citizen who witnessed from afar the great struggle of WWII,including rationing of food and gasoline, and personally being involved in the Korean war has given me a perspective that my children and grand children have not had.

Because those of us who lived through "declared" war experienced the possibility that we might actually loose the war, and the real possibility that you or one of your loved ones would be killed brings a perspective of dread and angst to mind about those who were the enemies we fought. Japanese and Germans were demonized in the media and we all believed anything was allowed as long as we win the war!

Today only those who lost loved ones on 9/11/01, and those who lost men or women in Iraq and Afghanistan can related to what was an ever day event from 1941 to 1945. Even the death of civilians and hero's in uniform from 2001 to today has apparently not had the impact on the populace, as those of us who lived through WWII. A time when casualties on the Island of Tarawa in a 76 hour period were 3,000! One thousand Marines were killed by the Japanese, and two thousand wounded. This produced 1000 telegrams to anxious loved ones that brought war home with a sudden clarity and grief! And the flag in the front window was changed from a blue star to a gold star!

Today the total killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan, and by terrorist action
on 9/11/01 is less than the KIA's in the battle for IWO JIMA! 6,821 Marines were killed in 35 days! This statistic is not mentioned to deprecate the loss of life in Iraq and Afghanistan, but to highlight the terrible horrors that Americans experienced daily for four years. And there was no sympathy for the enemy as is seen by the left in today's media frenzy over water boarding of terrorist who were captured, and imprisoned in Iraq.

You can call it selective transparency as do the Obamaphiles. But I believe it is that time has made the Americans forget that war is a fight to the death for us or the enemy. It is not a video game or TV series. War is horrific and destroys bodies and minds. You win if you inflict more violence on the enemy than he does on you!

Despite the fact that the Bush administration succeeded with the interrogation policy in question, when it comes to Left-partisan politics, no good deed goes unpunished. The water boarding did produce valuable information that prevented loss of life, and compared with the terrorist cutting off heads of their captives is not even in the same category.

A perfect example of the naivety that comes with the lack of experience is the speech that president Obama gave to the CIA recently regarding water boarding.
"I have put an end to the interrogation techniques described in those OLC memos, and I want to be very clear and very blunt. I've done so for a simple reason: because I believe that our nation is stronger and more secure when we deploy the full measure of both our power and the power of our values -- including the rule of law."
Tell me how we are safer when you announce to the world that you will treat terrorist prisoners better than the average American prisoner is treated in our prison system. Do we supply special meals for Kosher Jews? We supply prayer blankets, Korans and Islamic dietary foods to the prisoners in that terrible place called Gitmo!

War is Hell, and the rules of engagement do not specify that we must treat the enemy in a humane way when we kill him before he kills you. People should realize that talk is cheaper than cheap, but the nasty truth is that the only way to defeat an enemy is to be tougher on him then he is on you. All this talk of what the world thinks of us disappears when you face the enemy on the field of war!

"Values"? Like the values which form Obama's "vision for America." are "pie in the sky" values that should not even be considered in a time at war!

"Rule of law"? Everything the Obama administration has done and plans to do is an affront to constitutional Rule of Law. He has announced to the world and Al Qaeda, that we are a country of debaters not fighters! We might as well surrender now!

In fact, the the releasing the memos publicly accomplished two things immediately. First, it gave our enemies an exact knowledge of exactly how far our interrogations are allowed to go, which means that even where we have probable evidence that a captured jihadi has first hand knowledge of an imminent strike, there's absolutely no weapons left that the interrogator has to use when questioning a terrorist captive. And the president believes this makes us safer?

HAS THE MEDIA CHOSEN SIDES IN THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT?

childrenroct|

Saturday, January 10, 2009

I believe president elect is either making a really bad mistake, or showing his animus for USA /Israel long standing relationship, by sending emissaries to “dialog” with Hamas.
It has been the policy of the United States to not have any kind of diplomatic relation with terrorists groups or countries. This is a policy re-enforced by the belief and fact that terrorists cannot be trusted to back up anything they say or promise other than to wage guerrilla warfare against their avowed enemy!

Yet despite the fact that Obama has not even been sworn in as President, he is acting as though he is in charge by sending his representatives to begin dialog with Hamas!

Iran, which provides funding and training to Hamas, the crisis represents an almost existential battle in its quest to become a regional superpower, in which Hamas plays a key role as an extension of Shiite Iranian influence.

“Iran stands to gain more influence if Hamas survives, because Hamas is a direct auxiliary for Iran—an Iranian foothold on the Mediterranean,” said Oussama Safa, a Mideast analyst who heads the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies.

“Crushing Hamas in Gaza means chasing out the influence of the Iranians from this part of the region.” Why then, if this analyst is correct does Obama want to give more credence to this terrorist group? Could it be an indication that Obama’s foreign policy attitude is that the USA can talk fruitfully to any group whose avowed purpose is to destroy Israel and those who support it?

Neville Chamberlain tried this approach with Adolph Hitler in 1933, and failed miserably when Hitler went back on his promise to Chamberlain and invaded the Sudetenland!
The long shadow of Iran, which has much to win or lose from the outcome of the battles raging nearly two weeks after Israel launched its devastating onslaught to stop Hamas rocket attacks.

For too long, the long shadow of Iran, which has much to win or lose from the outcome of the battles raging between Hamas and the IDF nearly two weeks after Israel launched its military advance to stop Hamas rocket attacks on Israel. These attacks have intermittently gone on for months, and there is no way to stop them than to erradicate those doing the launching and those providing cover for the launching. Sometimes it is from momes and sometimes from Mosques and schools. Terrorists who train children to handle rocket launchers and AK-47s have no regard for civilians on either side.

Unfortunately most main stream Media sources here in the USA play up the loss of civilian lives being inflicted by the Israeli attack. This is nothing but propaganda for Hamas, and is a product of the Left wing bias of the Media against Israel. This type of collateral damage was never highlighted when WE fought the Germans in WWII. Bombers fire bombed German cities day and night near the end of the war killing hundreds of thousands in a fiery death in such places as Hamburg and Dresden, but not a peak from the media.

Now the media and the intelligentsia seems to have change their collective minds about killing during war. They highlight the killing of who may or may not be followers of the Hamas terrorists as though this was a new war crime being committed by the Israelis. The Media used this approach during the hard fighting years in Iraq also.
There is no doubt in my mind that the killing of innocent civilians is a tragedy of all wars, but the constant harangue of the numbers killed each day is just another left wing propaganda stunt to undermine support for our only ally in the Middle East!

Hamas, a Sunni fundamentalist movement, is important to Iran, because it helps give Iran credibility among Arabs, said Amal Saad-Ghorayeb, of the Lebanese American University. “Playing the Palestinian card is a way of winning Arab hearts and minds. Hamas is a bridge for Iran to the Arab Sunni world,” she said.

She does not rule out the possibility that Iran would open a second front in the Gaza conflict, by encouraging its well-armed Hezbollah ally to take action along Israel’s northern border if Hamas appeared to be in danger of collapse.

“If Hamas were to be defeated, it would be a grave blow for Iran,” she said.  Source:  Chicago Tribune

So enough with the bleeding heart stories of civilian casualties. If the IDF fails, there will be millions killed in Israeli cities when groups like Hamas obtain the nuclear weapons that Iran is fabricating while I write this blog!

Merry Christmas to All and Especially President and Laura Bush

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

At this blessed time of the holiday season. It is my fondest wish that all Christians and Jews have a blessed and peaceful Christmas and Hanuka! For a Christian like myself whose boss is a Jewish carpenter from Nazareth. I have special happiness at this time of the year that is mixed with sadness!
For Christmas day is the anniversary of my mothers birthday, and although she has been dead many years. I think of her kindness and love that helped to make me the man I am.

I also thank the Lord for becoming a man in such lowly circumstances, a cave used as a manger, over two thousand years ago to save us all despite our wish not to be saved in many cases.

It is the time of the year that families get together and exchange presents. Some do it for eight straight days. In my house we do it on Christmas after we go to church to thank "I AM" for sending his son to wipe the original sin from us mortals.

Some, too many i believe, do not believe in Christmas or anything that interferes with their license to do what they want to do. To them I also say a Merry Christmas!

But the man who deserves my recognition on this Christmas eve that will not receive it from too many people is our President Bush.

This is a man who has been the object of slander, derision and rancor for eight years by the secular left because he is a man who believes in God!
His stance on abortion has made him the object of hate from the moment he took office.
And the war that everyone on the left said we had lost in Iraq was used daily to vitriol unlike any President in modern times. Yes we lost 4000 plus men and women in Iraq, but those of us old enough to remember WWII will recall that more than that were killed in one day in the invasions of Tarawa and Iwo Jima!

Many people said Bush had no heart, and people like the "press hound" Cindy Sheehan made a spectacle of herself by camping out where ever the President and the press was calling him a "murderer".

What people don't know is that President Bush, while doing his duty as Commander in Chief, was feeling the lose more than any Liberal Press gave him credit for.
The following is a report from an Australian blogger who got the information directly from Washington Times

"One of the sickest smears the Left has made against George Bush is that he’s ignored the dead and wounded soldiers who fought in his wars. Just check the number of times that allegation has been made.

The Washington Times now reports the quiet truth:

Mr. Bush, for instance, has sent personal letters to the families of every one of the more than 4,000 troops who have died in the two wars, an enormous personal effort that consumed hours of his time and escaped public notice. The task, along with meeting family members of troops killed in action, has been so wrenching - balancing the anger, grief and pride of families coping with the loss symbolized by a flag-draped coffin - that the president often leaned on his wife, Laura, for emotional support…

Mr. Bush also has met privately with more than 500 families of troops killed in action and with more than 950 wounded veterans, according to White House spokesman Carlton Carroll. Many of those meetings were outside the presence of the news media at the White House or at private sessions during official travel stops, officials said".

The chair in the Oval Office is a lonely place to sit at times of crisis and I believe with all my heart that President Bush felt the invasion of Iraq was necessary to eliminate a potential threat to the USA and the rest of the World. For that we ought to say "job well done and Bon Voyage and Merry Christmas Mr President!

NO ANTI-GOVERNMENT MEDIA IN RUSSIA!!!

In the USA all straight thinking Americans recognize the Media bias toward the leftist policies of people like Barrack Obama, and his anti-war supporters.
Since the Vietnam era, when even leaders of the anti-war movement like WEATHERMEN BERNADINE DORN AND WILLIAM AYERS, attribute their successes in ending the war to their massive demonstrations and the complicit media.
Examples of the type of scurrilous coverage given to criminal members of the ant-war group is this coverage by the media in San Francisco: "At 7:30 a.m., radio station KPFK (Los Angeles) receives a call from a woman identifying herself as a member of the Weather Underground (Bernadine Dohrn): "Hello. I am going to read a declaration of a state of war. This is the first communication from the Weathermen Underground. The lines are drawn...revolution is touching all of our lives. ...Freaks are revolutionaries, and revolutionaries are freaks. If you want to find us, this is where we are. In every tribe, commune, dormitory, farmhouse, barracks and town house where kids are making love, smoking dope and loading guns. Fugitives from American justice are free to go. ...Within the next 14 days we will attack a symbol or institution of American injustice."
And they carried out their threat by bombing many university and government buildings, without a negative word from the media. IN FACT, Ayers was rewarded with a professorship at the University of Chicago! A man who said they should have done more bombing!!!

In Russia the Media is still controlled by the Putin led regime, so they never, I repeat, never print anything negative about the government. If they do, they eventually die or disappear as the news has illustrated recently.
The media has united behind Putin in his apparent quest to regain the power and respect that the former Soviet Union had. To illustrate the difference between the support the media gives to the aggression in Georgia versus the negative media coverage of Iraq and the Bush government in general I include this quote from Carmen Eller in Moscow:
"A quick war is the best propaganda: The conflict in the Caucasus has further strengthened the Putin-Medvedev leadership duo, according to new polls. Many Russians are hoping the pair will continue leading the country back towards super-power status and that they will pursue that aim more energetically".

In the minds of some Russians, Medvedev didn't go far enough in the conflict. Listener Anotoli from Tver, calling into to Echo of Moscow, said: "Medvedev is a weakling. We should have trampled on Georgia and, while we were at it, taken over the Crimea again."
Distrust amongst the Russian populace of Western policies is just about as great as its trust in it own leaders. Only 8 percent of those surveyed felt Russia was responsible for the fact that most Western governments supported Georgia in the South Ossetia conflict. A clear majority see evil intentions behind the support given by the West to Tbilisi. The West, they believe, is striving to "weaken Russia and to drive it out of the South Caucasus region."
'Very Aggressive Propaganda'
"The easiest explanation for the anti-Western sentiment is the state control of the mass media," Lev Gudkov, the director of the Levada Center, told SPIEGEL ONLINE. "On TV there is hardly any free reporting -- instead you see a lot of very aggressive propaganda." He said it was reminiscent of the worst of times in the Soviet era. The pollster said another important reason for the mass support given to Russian leaders is the increased material wealth of the people of Russia.

Unlike here in the USA, the authoritarian policies of today's Russian leadership are seldom questioned in public. Some print and online publications deliver differentiated reporting. But the reach of these media in Russia, an enormous country, is very limited. Only 20 percent of Russians have access to the Internet, and the majority of those who can get online are either young people or people who live in big cities. The powerful Putin is still held in higher esteem than his successor in the Kremlin. According to a recent survey by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), which is closely aligned with the government, 58 percent of Russians put their faith in Prime Minister Putin. Only 40 percent say they prefer President Dimitry Medvedev.

And still we have people in the USA who believe the Media is the best source to get unbiased news? What we get is a litany of anti- Bush hate that has propelled a man with absolutely no experience in National government as the leading candidate to face despots like Putin if things deteriorate in the next four years!

WHY OBAMA WOULD BE BAD FOR DEFENSE

WHY OBAMA SHOULD NOT BE PRESIDENT
82% of veterans who saw heavy combat strongly believe the war was lost because of a lack of political will.
Nearly 75% of the general public (in 1993) agrees.
These are the poling statistics regarding the outcome of the Vietnam war. A war that was waged with the commanders in the field of battle having one hand tied behind their back.

The Democrats that started the war in Vietnan were noble and experienced warriors. The Kennedy administration, led by president Kennedy, a war hero of PT boat 109, intended to defeat the Communist aided North Vietnamese, but after his assasination, the Johnson, McNamara group took over the control of the war. They sent 55,000 brave draftees and regular troops to their death with no intention of winning the war. A sin beyond comprehension.
The brave boys who slogged through the rice paddies to engage the vietcom won every battle they fought against the vietcong and the north vietnamese.

In the air the brave warriors, like John McCain, waged air combat against a communist supported MIG air wing with Chinese Communists as pilots of many planes they fought.
The air war was won as long as they were allowed to cross the Yalu river in persuit. But Mcnamara dictated that they could not cross the Yalu, and the commies avoided the superior skills of our pilots by racing across the Yalu!
This was a war which the media and the neo-communists wanted us to lose.

America was too strong ,and succesful to suit the left. So they printed and showed stories on TV that indicated the USA was loosing the war, and highlited the "atrocities" commited at Mi-Lai! The result was disater for support of a war that was against the  the Communists in Southeast Asia and China.
As a result we won all the battles, but lost the war. And the worst sin of all was that 55,000 brave troopers died in a fight they were not allowed to win.

Fast forward to 2008, and you will find that a Bush administration that has let the military do their job. General Petraeus, despite the carping from Pelosi, Murtah, and Reid has wage a successful campaign against the Muslim terrorist in Iraq. The war has been costly, as all wars are, but they are winning despite what you read in the lame stream press or watch on the communist new network!

This is something that all voters should consider when they go to the polls in Novemeber. Do we want a President like Jimmy Carter or Lindin Johson or do we want apresident who will stand up to our enemies and fight to preserve our way of life.
Do we want a "nanny state " that takes care of us from cradle to grave , but stifles initiative and the will to excel? Or do we want a strong America, that encourages free enterprise, strong dfenese and individual freedoma d rights?

If you believe this is a great country as I do, why do we need a "empty suit" who promises changr that includes decreasing our military preparednes in exchange for diplomacy? Do we want more taxes? Do we want more government controls over our buisnesses to satisfy enviromental wackos? Do we want amnesty for illegals, and National health insurance that includes illegals?

If not, do not vote for Barack Hussein Obama in November

COMPARING IRAQ TO KOSOVO

The Contradiction of Attitudes Toward Kosovo and Iraq

During the Clinton administration the USA waged war in Kosovo against the Serbians to help the Muslim Albanians. We did this without first obtaining a mandate from the UN. It all began with the bombing of Belgrade in 1999.

Americans were told it was a humanitarian mission to stop genocide, but it was not, nor is it now what we were led to believe. In fact the Muslim Albanians are killing Serbian women and children on a regular basis.

The Serbs are predominantly Catholic. The Albanians are over 90% Muslims. I guess Secretary Albright and her minions in the State Department convinced President Clinton that they were all moderate Muslims.

At any rate, we bombed the H##l out of their Country, and the NATO force mopped up the remaining Serbian fighters on the ground.NATO is still there 7 years later.

In Kosovo, more than 250,000 Serbians were driven out from their homes by Albanian separatists. Presently, Serbians are living in Kosovo as if in a ghetto. After the NATO occupation, more than 150 ancient Orthodox churches were destroyed by Albanians in Kosovo. There are currently no repair works. Serbians are living there in constant fear. Serbian children cannot go to school without adults.

After NATO's occupation, hundreds of Serbians were killed in Kosovo. More than 3,000 Serbians are "missing"?in Kosovo (that means "killed"). There are no investigations, and no News stories about the "civil war that is being waged.

Presently, Albanians are confiscating Serbia's federal, social, and private property. The occupation's forces in Kosovo, the so-called peacekeeping forces, ignored Resolution 1244 of the Security Council of the UN. They misrepresent the current situation in Kosovo in its reports to the UN General Secretary. Today, Kosovo is a crucial point in the drug trade, which traffics heroin from Afghanistan and Pakistan to Europe.

It would appear that Clinton and Albright's war has produced unintended consequences that the anti-Bush/Cheney crowd has failed to notice.

Because of the position establish by the Clinton/Albright administration, the USA has recognized Kosovo as an independent State, and last month granted diplomatic recognition of Kosovo as a separate state entity. The reaction was swift and radical. A group of Serbian youths set the US Embassy on fire!

According to latest reports, over 100 Serbs were wounded in the worst outbreak of violence in the region since Kosovo declared independence on February 17.

And there are news reports that in recent talks between the Serbian Foreign Minister and the Russians in Moscow, the discussion centered about the possibility of Serbians joining with Russia. The United States having recognized Kosovo's independence, apparently has violated Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity if you respect that a Country has a sovereign right to their territories.

It would be nice if the Democrat Left in the USA, and people like the Bush hater, Seymour Hersh, would recognize the mess their leadership created in Kosovo, and accept the fact that it started before Iraq's war, and is still being fought in guerrilla style.

The Invasion of Iraq had been addressed many times in the UN Security Council, and after two years of sanctions the US took action! They invaded Iraq and deposed Saddam!A notorious murderer of his own people was eliminated, and good was done!

Leftists talk about the long five years we have been fighting in Iraq, and five years is a very long time to be in harms way".

Never the less, we have been in Korea for over fifty years, Japan and Germany for over 60 year, and soldiers do die in those Countries. No, not from IED's or terrorist bullets, but in the service of their Country while driving down the Autobahn, as a victim of assault and many other reasons. In fact there is danger for the man/women in uniform where ever they serve, but the Leftist media only concentrates on Iraq and Afghanistan. Before you scream about the nearly five thousand dead, remember we lost over 7,000 in the taking of Tarawa!

It would be easy to pull out and help partition Iraq into Sunni, Shiite and Kurd regions. This would seem to solve the ethnic and religious problems that leaving would indubitably create.

But not unlike in what used to be Yugoslavia, the same chaos would begin soon after we leave. The civil war, the liberal anti-military crowd proclaims we have now in Iraq, would begin. Chaos between sectarian and religious factions would surely break out.
In conclusion, I must say that an end must be found in Iraq, but all the carping and sniping here at home will only result in the destruction of the will to win a good fight. Why can't Americans unite behind the Jews, Christians and Muslim who are wearing the American flag on their shoulder patch the same way they did when Americans supported the war against the Serbs?
