BANKS GET A "WINDFALL" AND TAX PAYERS GET THE SHAFT!

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

As president elect Obama rolled into Washington to await his coronation on next Tuesday. Many people are making comparisons and analogies to President Lincoln. I guess since Obama is partly Black, and Lincoln freed the slaves by waging a war that killed over 600,000 brothers, sisters, uncles and cousins in the un-Civil war, there is a comparison if you stretch your imagination far enough.

The Obama transition team and the willing accomplice Media seem to want the public to think that the "Great Emancipator" has once again arrived in Washington DC. But there are too many dis-similar traits between Obama and Lincoln and the the way they both looked at America to believe there is any similarity.

Lincoln waged the assault on the South to keep the Nation together. He believed in the status quo. In fact history shows that slavery was not on his mind until after the war between the States was well under way! He wanted to save the Union!

Obama.in my opinion, wants to destroy the status quo. He and his wife (she even said it publicly) do not believe the Country is something that they can be proud of in it's present form. They come to Washington to radically change things, and from what I have heard from his own lips. I do not like what he is intending to do!
In fact, I believe , that when he takes the oath of office for the Presidency, he will, I believe, be lying if you can believe his own words(said on his way to Washington) about Our Constitution?
Invoking hope and history, President-elect Barack Obama rolled into the capital city Saturday night pledging to help bring the nation "a new Declaration of Independence" and promising to rise to the stern challenges of the times.
At the War Memorial Plaza in Baltimore, Obama called on Americans to take up anew the principles of the nation's Founders, capping the inspirational message of the journey to Washington with a call for "a new declaration of independence." Source:Breitbart.com

"We are here today not simply to pay tribute to our first patriots but to take up the work that they began. And yet while our problems may be new, what is required to overcome them is not. What is required is the same perseverance and idealism that our founders displayed. What is required is a new declaration of independence not just in our nation, but in our own lives..independence from ideology…

We should not forget we are the heirs of those who declared independence…and who somehow believed that they had the power to make the world anew, that’s the spirit we must reclaim …for the American Revolution did not end when the British guns fell silent…it was never something to be ended on a battlefield, or fulfilled in our founding documents…the American Revolution was and remains an ongoing struggle in the minds and hearts of the people…so starting now, let’s take up in our own lives, the work of perfecting our Union. Let’s build a government…let all of us do our part to rebuild this country , let’s make sure this election is not the end of what we do to change America, but just the beginning.”
Later in another city, he made reference to the need for our Constitution to be rewritten as “more perfect”.

Who gets to define that? And why is that definition expected to be better than the definition left us by the Founding Fathers?

I believe that Obama has Socialism on his mind, and most everything he proposes to do are involved with making an already Big government, BIGGER!

One such example is the mess that has resulted in the TARP deal. The whole bail out scheme was sold to the American public as a way to pump more money into Banks so they would loan it to taxpayers who desperately need the loans. But apparently that is not what has happened, nor is it the intention of the recipients of the billions of dollars in taxpayers money to help the "little guy"!

The following is and excerpt from the Los Angeles Times article.

"as mounting losses at major banks like Citigroup and Bank of America in the last week have underscored, regulators are still searching for ways to stabilize the banking system. The Obama administration could be forced early on to come up with a systemic solution, getting bad loans off balance sheets as a way to encourage banks to begin lending, which most economists say is essential to get businesses and consumers spending again.

In U.S., the new frugality has unintended consequences
Individually, banks that received some of the first $350 billion from the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, have offered few public details about how they plan to spend the money, and they are not required to disclose what they do with it. But in conversations behind closed doors with investment analysts, some bankers have been candid about their intentions.

Most of the banks that received the money are far smaller than behemoths like Citigroup or Bank of America. A review of investor presentations and conference calls by executives of some two dozen banks around the country found that few cited lending as a priority. An overwhelming majority saw the bailout program as a no-strings-attached windfall that could be used to pay down debt, acquire other businesses or invest for the future.

Speaking at the FBR Capital Markets conference in New York in December, Walter Pressey, president of Boston Private Wealth Management, a healthy bank with a mostly affluent clientele, said there were no immediate plans to do much with the $154 million it received from the Treasury.

"With that capital in hand, not only do we feel comfortable that we can ride out the recession," he said, "but we also feel that we'll be in a position to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves once this recession is sorted out." Not a word about doing something to help the people who need money to stay in their homes or keep the small business they own from going under. The "fat cats" get the money and the taxpayer gets the "shaft"!

Where is the CHANGE in that?

A BAD TIME TO HAVE A "PACIFIST LEAD OUR COUNTRY

Not only the impending threat of Iran's gaining nuclear weapons capability in the next year, but the threat of North Korea attacking South Korea, hangs in the balance.

Afghanistan seems to be the "chosen one's" target for military action if at all, but one cannot ignore the possibility that the Koreans and the Iranians realize Obama's disdain for force of arms, and take advantage of his preference to talk to our enemies, to advance their military ambitions.
What will Obama do if Communist China threatens to launch nuclear weapons against Taiwan if it does not swear allegiance to the Chinese? Or if the Koreans are not just bluffing, and do advance south of the demilitarised zone while launching ICBMs on Seoul?

And it not entirely impossible that Putin will invade the Ukraine with his tanks and ground forces as he did recently, into The oil-rich region of Georgia, and earlier into Chechnya, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea,that forms a southwestern corridor of Russian territory. Will Obama give aid to the Ukrainians as Bush did for Georgia?

WE are replacing a "hawk" with a "dove", and apparently the Media and a little more than 50% of Americans are ecstatic about the CHANGE!
But will a "peacenik" Commander in Chief be able to talk those who await the "talker" with baited breath, be able to negotiate the peace we have had here at home, even while we waged a war in Iraq? Or will the despots take advantage of the advance warnings that Obama is anti-war and begin there quest for power over the geography they covet?

This story out of Great Britain, illustrates the potential for a hot spot flaming up again after over fifty years of Cease Fire!

The Guardian,UK. Is reporting "that North Korea today, threatened to "shatter" the conservative South Korean government in Seoul, as reports emerged that Pyongyang claims to have weaponised enough plutonium stocks to produce four or five nuclear bombs.

Relations across the heavily fortified border have turned frosty since South Korea's president, Lee Myung-bak, came to office last year promising to get tough on his communist neighbour after a decade of attempts by liberal governments to engage with Pyongyang. In December, North Korea closed border crossings and accused Seoul of plotting to assassinate the North's leader, Kim Jong-il.

But today's rare statement from the Korean People's Army – read on television by a uniformed officer – is likely to further raise tensions on the divided peninsula.

"Now that traitor Lee Myung-bak and his group opted for confrontation, denying national reconciliation and cooperation, backed by foreign forces, our revolutionary armed forces are compelled to take an all-out confrontational posture to shatter them," the statement said.

"Strong military measures will follow from our revolutionary armed forces," the spokesman added, warning of a clash along a disputed maritime border. Disagreements over the boundary triggered naval skirmishes in 1999 and 2000.

The statement came as an American scholar said North Korean officials had told him Pyongyang has weaponised 30.8 kg (68lb) of plutonium, enough for four or five bombs.

Selig Harrison, a North Korean expert at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, said the North Koreans had told him the weapons cannot be inspected.

The officials were vague about what weaponisation meant, but it appeared most likely the plutonium would be fitted in missile warheads, Harrison said."

Is now the time when our resolve to defend all freedom loving Countries from aggression to be tested? And will we fail to respond?

BE AWARE OF THE DOUBLE MEANING OF "CHANGE"

THE DANGER OF FOLLOWING A PERSON WHO WILL CHANGE THE USA

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

The French political thinker and historian Alexis de Tocqueville (1805-1859) was a student of American Democracy. He wrote "Democracy In America", a two volume set that was published in 1835 and 1840. The man was a "Liberal" of his times, considered by most as beginning the work on study of Sociology and Political Science. I was first introduced to his works in a Poly-Sci. course at Northwestern University.

He had many things to say about the greatness of America, but he cautioned about people who use words(we call it semantics) to garner the peoples attention. Such words as used by the Obama campaign as CHANGE" he had little use for.
The following is a quote from his book.

"Democratic nations are passionately addicted to generic terms and abstract expressions because these modes of speech enlarge thought and assist the operations of the mind by enabling it to include many objects in a small compass. A democratic writer will be apt to speak of capacities in the abstract for men of capacity and without specifying the objects to which their capacity is applied.…

These abstract terms which abound in democratic languages, and which are used on every occasion without attaching them to any particular fact, enlarge and obscure the thoughts they are intended to convey; they render the mode of speech more succinct and the idea contained in it less clear.…

Men living in democratic countries, then, are apt to entertain unsettled ideas, and they require loose expressions to convey them. As they never know whether the idea they express today will be appropriate to the new position they may occupy tomorrow, they naturally acquire a liking for abstract terms. An abstract term is like a box with a false bottom; you may put in it what ideas you please, and take them out again without being observed".

To which I can only add something that Tocqueville did not anticipate but which is quite consistent with his observations: that the looseness and flexibility of abstract ideas may serve to conceal the fact that what appear to be unsettled ideas are in fact much more settled, even stagnant, than they appear to be.Change can be either a change for the better or a change for the worse! Such was the case with Adolph Hitler and Lenin!

Tocqueville's words imply another danger: that these words can thrill ( as seen in the messianic nature of Obama's followers)and "intoxicate", and that their meaning can be made to expand reason and bloat into something actually dangerous. Or the words may at least bring something deeply opposite to their original supposed meaning. It also suggests that a democratic culture may be particularly susceptible to such hyperbolic rhetoric.AS in politicians promise anything to be elected, but then once they get in office their memory becomes very short!

Thus, we have yet another reason to be attentive to the ways in which abstract words are misused. To illustrate this point, look more closely at two such words: "experiment" and "promise." Both are abstractions of extraordinary importance in American public speech. Both speak to values and characteristics that are thought to be typically American. But both have largely lost their original meaning and have become crafted into usages that serve to undercut some of the very things they once served to support. The one we face today is CHANGE!

Will the Change Obama and his ilk bring to US be a good thing or a disaster. I think if you look at his voting record and what he has espoused in the past it would make anyone who values the freedoms we now have nervous.

ARE YOU THE PIGEON IN THIS GAME OF POLITICS?

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Please pray for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm’s way around the world, and for their families, especially those of our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, who have died in defense of American liberty while prosecuting the war with Jihadis

As I have written before, Obama changes positions more than a Chameleon changes color depending on it's environment. Apparently, the change he was calling foreign his campaign slogan, was not for Washington politics, but for his primary campaign positions. Abortion, gun control, capital punishment, FISA laws, the status of Jerusalem, faith-based federal programs, public financing of his campaign, welfare, NAFTA and free trade, and his commitment to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and his Trinity Church all have fallen to reconsideration, rephrasing, changed rhetorical modulation, and other semantic miracles. source : Tony Blankley

As a conservative, of course, I like all his changed views except for the fact that I believe he is insincere. and doesn't believe his current statements of principle any more than he believed his previous positions he used in the primary.

H.L. Mencken defined a demagogue as “one who preaches doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots." It is not surprising that the youth is particularly enchanted by the senator from Illinois. Being young, they are inexperienced in the ways of the world, and subject to flights of fantasy and promises of better times! Obama and his handlers know just the right formula to spin what ever audience he is speaking to, but only a fool would believe a man who means what he says could change positions and policies as often as he changes his underwear!

But as Tony Blankley said in the Patriot Post; " When you are invited to a new poker game and look around the table for the pigeon but can't spot him, you're the pigeon".Our we the pigeon in Obama's political shell game?

OBAMA DOES ANOTHER BACK FLIP ON IS POSITIONS

OBAMA MAKES ANOTHER BACK-FLIP! July 03, 2008 HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT HIGH DIVER! Please pray for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm’s way around the world, and for their families, especially those of our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, who have died in defense of American liberty. They will need all our prayers if Senator "flip-flop" gets elected in November! TODAY,In Fargo North Dakota, Obama made another verbal move to the center of the political spectrum. With his extreme left of center voting record, and his promises to the anti-war zealots, that allowed him to defeat the anointed favorite, Hillary Clinton. Obama's handlers have tacked to the right on Iraq to try to court those of us who believe withdrawal would lead to genocide in Iraq. Obama opened the door Thursday to altering his plan to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq immediately after his election, as he repeatedly promised during the campaign. He said in Fargo, that based based upon what he hears from military commanders during his upcoming trip to Iraq, he will reformulate his withdrawal plans. This is just one more "flip-flop" Obama has made since garnering the magic number of electoral delegates to almost guarantee his nomination, in Denver, on the first ballot. Alex Conant had this comment about the most recent "flip-flop". "There appears to be no issue that Barack Obama is not willing to reverse himself on for the sake of political expedience,Obama's Iraq problem undermines the central premise of his candidacy and shows him to be a typical politician." Conant is a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, but he is saying what many Americans must be asking themselves. "How much is Obama willing to betray those who got him to where he is today, and how much can we trust him to not betray us all for his personal agenda? This is a question that needs answering!

JUST WHAT KIND OF CHANGE WILL OBAMA PRODUCE!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Please pray for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm’s way around the world, and for their families, especially those of our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, who have died in defense of American liberty while prosecuting the war with Jihadistan.I have lived through the administrations of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, and all were strong presidents who supported a strong military, and their primary interest was the working man.
With the advent of Clinton, the Democrat party began a swing to the hard left. Abortion rights, gay and lesbian issues, Ecology zealots and anti-religious groups appear to have taken over the party of the "people".

Now comes the most liberal Senator, based upon his voting record, with a motto that has captured the minds of many young people and the usual assortment of recycled radicals from the 60's and 70's as his followers. Of course he has leftist mega-millionaires like George Soros and Warren Buffet endorsing his bid for the presidency. I understand Soros, a life time dedicated liberal, but Buffett is an enigma to me.
Never the less, this man with no executive experience has captured the imagination of the disgruntled masses, with his promise of CHANGE.
What the change will actually be is the big question? If you judge a man/woman by their past associations and affiliations, you would have to say the change Obama promises is a change to the socialist form of government. There also is the possibility that he is a closet Muslim, and co-existence with Sharia law may be in his plans for the USA?

It is for this reason that I am violating my normal blogging rules, and will publish a direct quote from the Investors Business Daily. I believe this piece points out the possibility that Americans may be "buying a Pig in a polk" as my grandmother used to say!

"Obama's Red Roots By INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Election '08: The word is that Barack Obama is a mainstream politician who sometimes attracts fringe leftists. The record tells a different story — that he has sought out radicals. What does that say of his agenda?

It is natural to be skeptical of excessive claims about Obama's radical associations. After all, there are so many. But one bears attention — because it helped him get his start in politics. In 1996, he won an Illinois state senate seat on a "fusion" ticket of the Democratic Party and leftist group called the "New Party."

The New Party, founded in 1992 with 7,000 members at its peak, had been an explicitly anti-capitalist party of ex-Communists, socialists and activists from ACORN, the hard-left group that's constantly in trouble over voter fraud. The New Party didn't ask for Obama's association; he asked for the New Party's endorsement.
Blogger Rick Moran of the American Thinker has found disturbing particulars.

First, the New Party didn't give its support and campaign volunteers to just anyone. Obama actually had to audition for it. According to a September-October 1995 update on the New Party-aligned Chicago Democratic Socialists of America Web site:
"About 50 activists attended the Chicago New Party membership meeting in July. The purpose of the meeting was to . . . to hear appeals for NP support from four potential political candidates."

Anyone wanting a New Party endorsement had to "be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP," the Web site said.

So Obama signed on with this group and now remains in its debt.
That raises questions about what was in the New Party platform that drew in Obama. Maybe its own statements saying it was formed "to break the stranglehold that corporate money and corporate media have over the political process."
Sound familiar? One of the few things Obama reveals in his vague "change" agenda are plans to punish corporations. He rails against "corporate profits" and even worked in a condemnation of them in his first defense of Rev. Jeremiah Wright. So there's little doubt he shares a lot of what the New Party believes.

The New Party also has advocated a bill of rights for children, a shorter work week, a universal "social" wage and military spending cuts. These will undermine parental rights, lower competitiveness, lard up welfare and make the U.S. less secure. All are echoed in Obama's proposals. They are the hardest battle cries of the left.
Obama should come clean on why he sought these radicals' support and, better still, disclose just how he intends to pay them back".

What say you mr./mrs. voter?

Two Leftists Used Change For Their Message

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

MORAL RELATIVISM AND SECULARISM ARE THE POISON PEN OF FREEDOM
« previous entry | next entry »
Jun. 9th, 2008 | 05:56 pm

TODAY'S LEFT IS NOTHING MORE OR LESS THAN A CONTINUATION OF THE MARXIST DOCTRINE OF THE 19TH CENTURY.
Karl Marx was an amoral relativist and secular humanist, who was the designer and indirect accomplice in the demise of what we call "common sense".
He was the "father of the ba***rd children of the twisted ideologies of multi-cultural ism with the phony emphasis on "diversity".
Most of our public school teachers, at all levels, are doctrinaire leftists, who apparently worship at the feet of Marx. Thus we have college freshman who can only read at an eight grade level. And mathematics has become a lost ability. If you don't believe me, go into a convenience store and buy an item that costs $11.83, and watch the young person struggle with change for a twenty dollar bill!

When Marx died in March of 1883 his tombstone, that was built and paid for by the Communist party in 1953, had the following words carved on it below the heading, "WORKERS OF ALL LANDS UNITE“
"THE PHILOSOPHERS HAVE ONLY INTERPRETED THE WORLD IN VARIOUS WAYS - THE POINT HOWEVER IS TO CHANGE".
Where have you heard the word "CHANGE" used lately?

It is strange that so many Jews in America appear to be followers of,if not Marx himself, at least the basic principals of humanism and secularism.

In his paper ON THE JEWISH QUESTION, he wrote, "let us not look for the secret of the Jew in his religion, but let us look for the secret of his religion in the real Jew. What is the secular basis of Judaism? Practical need, self-interest. What is the worldly religion of the Jew? Huckstering. What is his worldly God? Money. Very well then! Emancipation from huckstering and money, consequently from practical, real Judaism, would be the real emancipation of our time".
Sounds a lot like the mentor and Pastor of the Democrat Presidential nominee, Reverend Wright!

"We need to take faith seriously not simply to block the religious right but to engage all persons of faith in the larger project of American renewal". So says Obama in his "Audacity of Hope" book, and it sounds strangely similar to a quote of Marx. "Religion is the opiate of the people".
Karl Marx seemed to regard religion as one of the toughest roadblocks to mounting and sustaining a proper revolution by the proletariat. That the masses would continue to stubbornly cling to their religions, placing their hope in God rather than man, was evidently one the more disturbing aspects of his quest for a Communist society.source:Wikapedia

This sounds strangely similar to the comments OF OBAMA about people IN SMALL TOWN AMERICA where residents “cling to guns and religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them".

Should freedom loving Americans take a chance on a man who acts and sounds like the modern day equivalent of Karl Marx?
