A RIDICULOUS AND HURTFUL COMPARISON

Sunday, June 07, 2009

During Obama's speech in Cairo, he made the comparison of the Holocaust to the suffering that the Palestinians have endured in their conflict with the Israelis.
"In his Cairo speech, immediately after talking about the Holocaust, Obama said that "on the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people, Muslims and Christians, have suffered in pursuit of a homeland."

"Obama shockingly equated the destruction of European Jewry to the suffering Arabs brought upon themselves when they declared war on the nascent state of Israel.
"Obama ignored the fact that the Palestinians have not abandoned terror," Habayit Hayehudi chairman Daniel Herschkowitz said during a tour of settlements south of Hebron. "The government of Israel is not America's lackey. The relations with the Americans are based on friendship and not submission, and therefore Israel must tell Obama that stopping natural growth in the settlements is a red line."

I really do not know where to begin to explain the obtuse comparison of the Holocaust and the plight of the Palestinians. But one way to begin is to compare the plight of millions of people being rounded up, herded into train boxcars and shipped off to "death Camps", just because they were of a race that was detested by a megalomaniac who needed a scapegoat to further his quest for power!
Of course many innocent Catholics and other Christians have suffered during the protracted conflict between the terrorist followers of Hamas and the Israelis. But let us not forget that despite all the cease-fires and Camp David agreements. The radical element of the Palestinians keeps firing rockets into Israel and there is the occasional suicide bomber that blows up some public place killing innocemt women and children.

But never did any of the Jews, Catholics or gypsies that were killed by the millions in the "death camps", kill anyone or incite violence in Germany, Poland and or any other country. The genocide that was perpetrated by the Holocaust was unprovoked and should never be compared to the conflict between the Muslim terrorists who call themselves Palestinians!

During the recent war between Israel defense force and Hamas in Gaza
There were 4,747 Palestinian deaths. This was during the second intifada, the Palestinian uprising that began in September 2000. Hardly an apt comparison of the millions killed in Nazi death camps!

Perhaps when Obama toured the death camp at Buchenwald in eastern Germany, where 56,000 people died at the hands of the Nazis, he realized the absurdity of his analogy. But do not hold your breath to wait for an apology!

It was obvious from the speech he gave to students and dignitaries
at Cairo University that "President Barack Obama succeeded in delivering a message of respect to Muslims across the world, as was printed in an editorial in the United Arab Emirates-based Gulf News.

His familiarity with Islam and his ability to quote comfortably from the Quran (he did it four times) is bound to resonate in this part of the world.

I only hope the open hand that Obama offers Hamas, the Palestinians and the Muslim world does not result in those radical Muslims who hate the USA and Israel, returning it with the "clenched fist" of aggression. Highlighting the hostility that Obama faces from some quarters, al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, in a message on a website, warned Muslims against alliance with Christians and Jews, saying it would annul their faith. Unless the Muslim world renounces the radical intent of eradicating Israel. There can be no peace in the Middle East despite all the pious platitudes that Obama is so adept at delivering!

HAS THE MEDIA CHOSEN SIDES IN THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT?

I believe president elect is either making a really bad mistake, or showing his animus for USA /Israel long standing relationship, by sending emissaries to “dialog” with Hamas.
It has been the policy of the United States to not have any kind of diplomatic relation with terrorists groups or countries. This is a policy re-enforced by the belief and fact that terrorists cannot be trusted to back up anything they say or promise other than to wage guerrilla warfare against their avowed enemy!

Yet despite the fact that Obama has not even been sworn in as President, he is acting as though he is in charge by sending his representatives to begin dialog with Hamas!

Iran, which provides funding and training to Hamas, the crisis represents an almost existential battle in its quest to become a regional superpower, in which Hamas plays a key role as an extension of Shiite Iranian influence.

“Iran stands to gain more influence if Hamas survives, because Hamas is a direct auxiliary for Iran—an Iranian foothold on the Mediterranean,” said Oussama Safa, a Mideast analyst who heads the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies.

“Crushing Hamas in Gaza means chasing out the influence of the Iranians from this part of the region.” Why then, if this analyst is correct does Obama want to give more credence to this terrorist group? Could it be an indication that Obama’s foreign policy attitude is that the USA can talk fruitfully to any group whose avowed purpose is to destroy Israel and those who support it?

Neville Chamberlain tried this approach with Adolph Hitler in 1933, and failed miserably when Hitler went back on his promise to Chamberlain and invaded the Sudetenland!
The long shadow of Iran, which has much to win or lose from the outcome of the battles raging nearly two weeks after Israel launched its devastating onslaught to stop Hamas rocket attacks.

For too long, the long shadow of Iran, which has much to win or lose from the outcome of the battles raging between Hamas and the IDF nearly two weeks after Israel launched its military advance to stop Hamas rocket attacks on Israel. These attacks have intermittently gone on for months, and there is no way to stop them than to erradicate those doing the launching and those providing cover for the launching. Sometimes it is from momes and sometimes from Mosques and schools. Terrorists who train children to handle rocket launchers and AK-47s have no regard for civilians on either side.

Unfortunately most main stream Media sources here in the USA play up the loss of civilian lives being inflicted by the Israeli attack. This is nothing but propaganda for Hamas, and is a product of the Left wing bias of the Media against Israel. This type of collateral damage was never highlighted when WE fought the Germans in WWII. Bombers fire bombed German cities day and night near the end of the war killing hundreds of thousands in a fiery death in such places as Hamburg and Dresden, but not a peak from the media.

Now the media and the intelligentsia seems to have change their collective minds about killing during war. They highlight the killing of who may or may not be followers of the Hamas terrorists as though this was a new war crime being committed by the Israelis. The Media used this approach during the hard fighting years in Iraq also.
There is no doubt in my mind that the killing of innocent civilians is a tragedy of all wars, but the constant harangue of the numbers killed each day is just another left wing propaganda stunt to undermine support for our only ally in the Middle East!

Hamas, a Sunni fundamentalist movement, is important to Iran, because it helps give Iran credibility among Arabs, said Amal Saad-Ghorayeb, of the Lebanese American University. “Playing the Palestinian card is a way of winning Arab hearts and minds. Hamas is a bridge for Iran to the Arab Sunni world,” she said.

She does not rule out the possibility that Iran would open a second front in the Gaza conflict, by encouraging its well-armed Hezbollah ally to take action along Israel’s northern border if Hamas appeared to be in danger of collapse.

“If Hamas were to be defeated, it would be a grave blow for Iran,” she said.  Source:  Chicago Tribune

So enough with the bleeding heart stories of civilian casualties. If the IDF fails, there will be millions killed in Israeli cities when groups like Hamas obtain the nuclear weapons that Iran is fabricating while I write this blog!

DEFEAT HAMAS OR THEY WILL DESTROY ISRAEL

The members of the anti-Israel Press are highlighting the numbers of "civilians" being killed by the bombs being dropped by the IDF jets that are trying to rid the World once and for all of a cancer that has festered in the Gaza Strip for decades.

To try to help readers of this blog understand just what Hamas is, and the threat it poses to the one ally the USA has in the Middle East. I have included a time line of the Hamas movement.

* Hamas is an acronym for Islamic Resistance Movement and also means "zeal" in Arabic.
* It is formally committed to destroying Israel and putting an Islamic state in its place. But Hamas has said it would accept a Palestinian state in lands captured by Israeli forces in the 1967 war in return for a long-term truce.
* Hamas has rebuffed demands from Israel, the United States and other nations to recognize the Jewish state and disarm. Israel and the United States have sought to isolate Hamas.
* Hamas spearheaded a suicide bombing campaign against Israel starting in 2000 but later abide by a 2005 truce. Israel's deadly air strikes in the Gaza Strip on Saturday prompted Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal to call for a new uprising.
* Hamas was helped in the 2006 parliamentary election by its pledges to eradicate graft in the Palestinian Authority and its fight against Israel. It is also popular because of a network of charities.

1987 - Hamas was established during the first Palestinian uprising.
1993 - Hamas rejects interim peace accords between Israel and Yasser Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization.
1996 - Arafat elected Palestinian president. Fatah wins 68 out of 88 seats in parliament. Hamas boycotts the vote.
2000 - Second Intifada, or uprising, starts after the collapse of peace talks

Arafat dies in Paris and is succeeded by Mahmoud Abbas as head of the PLO and Palestinian president.
2005 - Abbas and Israeli leader Ariel Sharon declare ceasefire. Abbas wins support from Hamas, which largely abides by the truce. Israel ends 38-year Gaza occupation.

Hamas won the Palestinian parliamentary election in 2006, taking 74 seats in 132-member parliament. Abbas's long-dominant Fatah movement wins 45 seats.
2007 - Hamas Islamists won a brief civil war in the Gaza Strip against secular Fatah forces loyal to Abbas.

Since then the Hamas controlled Gaza strip has been the launching site of male and female suicide bombers, rocket launching that has gradually increased in explosive power and range, and that poses a constant threat to Israel.

And if this is not enough to justify cleaning Hamas out of Gaza. Consider the effect that many tunnels built from Gaza were ostensibly to be used to transport supplies to Gaza, but are also used to transport weapons from Egypt and other Arab Countries that hate Israel.

These tunnels could be used to secretly transport nuclear weapons, when acquired , from Iran, China, North Korea and evn Russia, to carry out the avowed threatof Hamas, to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth!

To put the threat to Israel in perspective. What if terrorist elements took over the southern portion of Tijuana, Mexico? They began lobing rockets upon the southern parts of San Diego County, and suicide bombers in civilian clothing began coming over the border to attack buses and shopping centers in San Diego!
How long would the Liberal, anti-military element of this Country be successful in convincing Americans that a cease fire and "talks" would solve the problem?

It is easy for those around the world who are not under a daily threat of terrorist acts to tell the Israelis how they should act, but only the Israelis will have to suffer the consequences if the "talks" fail as they have for decades!
