THEN WHERE WILL WE GO TO FIND FREEDOM?

The statue of Liberty in New York harbor has been the light that people sought who were fleeing from tyrants, famine and religious persecution for over one hundred years. America has beeen the beacon of freedom and opportunity for those born here and especially those imigrants who passed through Ellis Island to try to get their little piece of a free society. Free fom government persecution, free from tyranny, freedom of religion and the freedom of speech!

But today we are faced with the diming of the light of freedom that the torch held high by Miss Liberty represents.
Not only has free speech been replaced by political correct speech, but freedom has been replaced by license, As we see in the "right to choose" that our un-august Supreme Court declared in Roe vs Wade.
Anything goes has replaced the rules of public speech as long is it isn't speech that offends some minority group or the present ruling class in Washington. Lewd an lascivious words, swear words are o.k, but do not say something that offends the minority groups

Now we are faced with a radical change of enormous affect on not only our health and welfare, but how we make decisions about our health and the health and welfare of our loved ones.
Thomas Sowell said it well in todays piece in the Patriot Post.
"Almost never are the dangers of having uninsured people weighed against the dangers of having government bureaucrats over-ruling doctors and deciding whether money would be better spent saving the life of an elderly person or paying for an abortion for some teenager.

The crowning irony is that the problems caused by insurance companies refusing to pay for certain medications or treatment are to be solved by giving government bureaucrats that same power, along with the power to prevent patients from using their own money to pay for those same medications or treatments".
More than two centuries ago, Edmund Burke said, "Nothing is good but in proportion"--

It appears to me that the present administration in Washington is he## bent on power over every sector of our way of life. It apso appears, that unfortunately the Democrats have the votes to ram through Congress a bill that will never see the light of day(only a synopsis of the over 1000 page bill) that will turn over 1/6th of our GNP to the federal government, and destroy millions of jobs presently held by people employed by the private insurance companies that offer health insurance that over 85% of our people have and are satisfied with! This at a time when unemployment is in excess of 10%!

When President Obama was inaugurated and gave his inaugural speech. He talked about the importance of transparency in government. He said ‘transparency breeds accountability and builds public confidence.' Where has this gone, or was it just another lie from a man who will say anything to gain power?

The bill passed in the Senate Finance Committe yesterday. Mmost of it will not be implemented until 2013,but the taxes begin in 2010!
Iit is not an inconvenience for the Senate to let those who voted them into their princely position to post at least what they ae voting on to allow those who are interested to read!
Thist is not something we ought to overlook, the opportunity to get the American people to be able to read it.There has been a lot of discussion at town hall meetings and elsewhere. People are mad about Congress voting on things we haven't even read. But unfortunately I think this is the way Obama and his sycophants will operate until they totally socialize our once great country!

Waiting in the wings is the Cap and Trade bill that will certainly be passed by the same lock step majority that will further the ambition of their messia, OBAMA!
This will destroy the energy system as we know it today by high taxation and fees, and replace it with a "Goreite" system that will certainly cost US more taxes and make life less free and more unpleasant due to regulations on how much energy the government believes we should be allowed to use each day.

Where will people who seek freedom rom tyrannts and opression go then?

A CONSTITUTIONAL AND MORAL CRISIS

Monday, September 21, 2009

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), a physician who chairs the Republican Study Committee, said he’s actually read the 1,018-page bill that emerged from the House Ways and Means Committee, and he called it “medical malpractice.”

“This is the farthest reach of government in decades,” Price said. “This debate is not about health care, it’s about freedom. We should write into law that patients, families and doctors make medical decisions, not the government,” Price said. “We’ve got to solve the challenge of lawsuit abuse.”

Despite Obama's protestations that "HIS" bill will not include money for abortions. All the House bills and one of the Senate bills includes language that would provide funding for private organizations for abortions.

President Barack Obama’s assertion that the Democrat-backed health care overhaul would not publicly fund abortions is “demonstrably false and extraordinarily misleading,” Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) told the conservative Values Voters summit on Friday.

Smith predicted that abortions would increase by as much a one third if the Democrats’ health care legislation is enacted.

“Never have I been more concerned about the promotion of abortion coming out of the White House,” Smith said. “The unborn child and his or her mother are more at risk now than ever, since Roe v. Wade itself.

A recent Gallup poll showed a majority of Americans are pro-life and abortions have been declining, Smith said. “Against all that, the abortionists teamed up with Barack Obama, the abortion president, to coerce you and I to support abortion” with federal tax dollars, Smith said.

The former president of the American Medical Association, Dr. Donald Palmisano, a surgeon, warned that if the Obama administration did not slow down on its drive for a government-led health care overhaul, the treatment choices available to patients would be undercut.

He added that the president’s “public option” plan in particular would be a disaster for patients and medical innovation.

“When it comes to health system reform: slow down. Patients’ lives are at risk,” Palmisano told reporters at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. “Today, in America, we have the best health care system in the world – a system that provides urgent, preventative, and long-term care in every community at all hours of the day.
"The health care system is never closed in the United States,” he said. Let’s put the patient in control, with the doctor as trusted adviser,” he said. “Let’s not lose the liberty that is our right as Americans.”

“On health care, we must stand firm for no further diminution of protection of the unborn child and no further expansion of culture of death,” Smith said.

Although, for me, abortion is a moral issue not a right. There are many people who believe it is a right " to choose" and I respect their opinion. They are wrong in that it is not a rirght given by the Constitution or Bill or Rights, but a LICENSE to remove the baby from what should be the safest place in the world. The mother's womb!
But by giving the government, specificaly the president the control over all of our nealth care should ring alarm bells for anyone who appreciates and wants to protect our personal freedoms.

The health care bill under consideration in the House of Representatives would give President Obama the authority to name a new federal “Health Choices Commissioner” who would have sweeping power to govern the health insurance plans offered in a so-called "exchange" where millions of Americans would get their health insurance if the bill is enacted.

These powers would include deciding which treatments are covered, which companies can participate, which states can run their own exchange, and enrolling individuals into the public exchange.
The Health Choices Commissioner would establish “the benefits to be made available under Exchange-participating health benefit plans during each plan year,” according to page 84 of the 1,018-page bill. That means the commissioner would determine what benefits the participating insurance companies must offer participating customers in the exchange.

The commissioner would also set rules for insurance companies to participate in the health insurance exchange, and establish criteria for individuals to receive federal subsidies to purchase insurance in the exchange, according to section 142 on page 42 of the legislation.
Further, the commissioner would have the authority to establish “automatic enrollment” of individuals who qualify for the health insurance exchange.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) believes giving one bureaucrat this much power over the health insurance of Americans is among the least noticed provisions of the legislation.

“The American people want two things from health care reform: lower costs and more choices,” Boehner said in a statement. “Yet Democrats have done exactly the opposite coming up with a bill that actually raises costs--increasing the deficit by $240 billion--and letting a new federal bureaucrat make health care decisions that should be left to patients and their doctors.”
The legislation also gives the commissioner power to determine who can participate and under what conditions.

And if you could trust the leadership of the Democrat party before this attack on 1/6th of our economy. You should be convinced that by now they will say anything and do anything( even go to bed with ACORN and SEIU) to gave absolute power!
This interaction with Speaker Pelosi illustrates the duplicity of the Democrats and some RINOs.

"While many pro-life Democrats in the House of Representatives say they will not vote for a health care reform bill unless it explicitly prohibits federal funding for abortion through insurance plans, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has declined to state whether the final legislation should address the issue.

On the July 26 edition of CNN’s State of the Union, for example, host John King asked Pelosi: “If this bill passes and there’s a public option, should that public option cover abortions?”

Pelosi said: “That’s not--that’s not the issue. The issue is people go out there to--we’ll be working on that issue. But that’s not the issue to people like me. And it should be an issue for the 60 million Catholics in the USA and all Christians and Jews that beleive in the Commandment "Thou shal not kill"!

We must stop this atrocity masked as a welfare reform from happenening. Write, call and email your representatives in Washington, an go to TEA partys and rallys, and we will stop this abomination from happening!!

THE TURNING POINT FOR OUR REPUBLIC AND OUR FREEDOM

"An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation." --John Marshall
Despite the plethora of talk radio and TV commentary shows. No one except Glenn Beck is questioning if the way Congress and president Obama are spending money and grabbing powers that are not delegated to him in the Constitution, whether or not our once strong and proud Republic will fail and we will loose our personal freedom to a "nanny" state?

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) recently warned Congress, again, that the trajectory of the federal budget is on an unsustainable course.[v] For fiscal years 2009 and 2010, the federal government will reach the largest deficits--annual budget short falls--as a share of gross domestic product (GDP) since the close of World War II.[vi] The national debt--the sum of all previous deficits--is set to reach 60 percent of GDP by the end of fiscal year 2010.[vii] The CBO warns that these "Large budget deficits would reduce national savings, leading to more borrowing from abroad and less domestic investment, which in turn would depress economic growth in the United States. Over time, the accumulation of debt would seriously harm the economy."
A country burdened by such a massive debt must be dependent on foreign Countries to support that debt, and some who now hold our "paper" are not what I would call friends. Communist China for example!
While the deficit and debt is driven largely by entitlement spending--Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security--the proposed spending by the Youth PROMISE Act and all other new programs being advocated in Congress only move the nation closer to fiscal insolvency. Not including "such sums as necessary" authorizations for the PROMISE Implementation Grants (Section 215) and "Mynisha's Law" (Section 505), the five-year cost of the Act is just shy of $1.3 billion from fiscal years 2010 to 2014. However, the version of the Youth PROMISE Act from the 110th Congress (H.R. 3864) set the budget authority for the Implementation Grants at $2 billion per year. Therefore, a more credible estimate of the cost of the act is $11.3 billion from fiscal years 2010 to 2014. This estimate does not include the cost of "Mynisha's Law" that funds comprehensive gang prevention and relief areas.

Too often, the focus of Congress and grant-making bureaus is the easy and wide dissemination of grants to constituents. As a result, the number of mediocre programs funded under the Youth PROMISE Act will vastly outnumber the number of exceptional programs receiving funding. In addition, the Office of Justice Programs has had difficulty monitoring and evaluating grant-funded programs to ensure that the funding is not being wasted.

Congress should contemplate the fact that government's intervention in the lives of youth can cause more harm than good. SOURCE:THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION
Then we have the distinct possibility of a militarist Russia as was demonstrated by the presence of at least two Akula class nuclear submarines two hundred miles off the coast of Georgia. Who knows how close they came to our coast line only GOD knows!

To combat the threat of a belligerent Putin led Russia,a nuclear North Korea, and a very soon nuclear Iran. We must have the best available nuclear and stealth submarines in the world.
Most countries have the missile capability of destroying any surface ships we send to combat any aggressor, but the nuclear sub can deliver more fire power than a fleet of air force bombers, by launching it's nuclear missiles.
Unfortunately many of our first line attack submarines are old by today's standards.

The U.S. submarine fleet has declined by 41 percent in just a decade. Only by upholding the long-held SSN standard and moving to a two-per-year built rate by the next fiscal year will the Navy's submarine fleet meet combatant commander requirements that have only increased since 9/11.
The Heritage foundation's recommendation to the Defense Department is that Congress appropriate monies for one new SSN submarine be built in 2010 and then two be built each year after until our submarine fleet is capable of defending our freedom and our allies, if we still have any!

The U.S. Navy's requirement for its undersea fleet is 48 nuclear attack submarines (SSNs); however, the backbone of this fleet, the Los Angeles-class boat, is aging quickly, while overall SSN numbers are projected to drop to the low 40s by the 2020s

If we have 3 billion dollars to spend on supporting the automobile dealers in the "clunkers" scheme, we sure should have enough money to defend ourselves when, not if, an enemy attacks the USA! One Virginia class submarine costs 3.4 billion dollars, and they last a lot longer than any car, and will save us when we need saving!

If Congress doesn't stop spending like our tax dollars are MONOPOLY money, the days of freedom from oppressive taxation and Federal Government regulations will come to a grinding halt, and we will be like any other third World Country whose citizens rely on government largess for scraps of our daily bread!!

THE STARK COMPARISON OF FREEDOM VERSUS SUBJUCATION

Monday, December 22, 2008

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

Iranian authorities on Sunday closed the office of the country's main human rights organization, headed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi. Dozens of plainclothes detectives and local police officers entered the Center for the Defense of Human Rights in Tehran and shut it down hours before a ceremony was to take place commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

According to members of the organization, which has been active since 2000, the police had been informed of the meeting, at which political activists were scheduled to speak. "The general human rights activities of this nongovernmental organization are the reason for this illegal reaction," the center's leadership said in a statement. THE MULLAHS THAT CONTROL IRAN'S THEOCRACY POLICE STATE BROACH NO DISSENT!

Center officials speculated that the closure was in part a response to a United Nations resolution issued Thursday that expressed "deep concern" about the human rights situation in Iran. SOURCE: WASHINGTON POST

In contrast to the oppressive actions of the Iranian police state authorities. The city of Baghdad in war torn Iraq has the first-ever public Christmas celebration in Baghdad!

It was held Saturday and sponsored by the Iraqi Interior Ministry. Once thought to be infiltrated by death squads, the Ministry now is trying to root out sectarian violence -- as well as improve its PR image. The event took place in a public park in eastern Baghdad, ringed with security checkpoints.

Interior Ministry forces deployed on surrounding rooftops looked down at the scene: a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments and tinsel; a red-costumed Santa Claus waving to the crowd, an Iraqi flag draped over his shoulders; a red-and-black-uniformed military band playing stirring martial music, not Christmas carols.

On a large stage, children dressed in costumes representing Iraq's many ethnic and religious groups -- Kurds, Turkmen, Yazidis, Christians, Arab Muslims not defined as Sunni or Shiite held their hands high and sang "We are building Iraq!" Two young boys, a mini-policeman and a mini-soldier sporting painted-on mustaches, march stiffly and salute.

"All Iraqis are Christian today!" said Interior Ministry spokesman Major General Abdul Karin Khalef. Khalaf said sectarian and ethnic violence killed thousands of Iraqis. "Now that we have crossed that hurdle and destroyed the incubators of terrorism."
He then said, "and the security situation is good, we have to go back and strengthen community ties." Even though the spokesman is surrounded by heavy security.
This celebration shows that the security situation in Baghdad is improving. Many of the people attending the Christmas celebration appear to be Muslims, with women wearing head scarves. Suad Mahmoud, holding her 16-month-old daughter, Sara, tells me she is indeed Muslim, but she's very happy to be here. "My mother's birthday also is this month, so we celebrate all occasions," she says, "especially in this lovely month of Christmas and New Year." SOURCE: CNN

And yet there are those who believe our invasion and occupation of Iraq was only going to make Muslims hate us more! This illustrates the fallacy of that argument and clearly shows the difference that freedom has on events that affect the populace.

A wise man once said, "War is preferable;e to subjugation"!

November Could Change Us Forever and Not For Good!

We Are At A Crossroad In Iindividual Freedom

Not since the war for Independence has this Country faced a threat to individual liberties as we find ourselves today. No, it did not happen overnight. It has been a gradual erosion of the quality of education, the shift to the extreme left of the print and television media, the embrace of multiculturalism and political correctness over the past twenty years. But today we are at a crossroads in the great experiment Our founding fathers called Liberty and Freedom.
In November we will determine whether The United States of America remains a Land of Individuals free to determine the fate of their lives within the laws of the land. Or we will elect a President who has the goal of making the USA into a Utopian type of Socialist State! A country where the government not only provides you what it believes is best for you from cradle to grave, but tells you what you can and cannot say!

We are some 230 years after the formation of the greatest, most productive, prosperous, powerful and generous free nation on earth, possibly voting ourselves back into tyranny in the name of a greater common good. Far too many people have stopped asking the question about what limited role in society our government should fulfill ( as did Our Founders), but have hopped aboard the "gravy train to paradise", never suspecting it to be the graveyard express to the ideological gulag, and the loss of individual freedoms.

We no longer respect or protect the first fundamental unalienable American right, Life. Over a million abortions are performed per year since Roe/Wade. The second, the right to individual Liberty has been replaced with the group rights of the community, and our right to individually define and pursue (earn) happiness has been traded for the right of the group to both define and re-distribute happiness at the federal level. People are now asking government to meet the needs that were once obligations of individuals themselves, family and neighbors, the public charity, church organizations, and Almighty God. A clear recipe for tyranny in exchange for laziness.

Our federal government has indeed become destructive of the very values and principles every American is called to uphold and defend in Our Constitution and Bill of Rights, and unless we change our government by changing our voting patterns, we will soon have no choice but to abolish them and start anew.

Democrats today stand fully opposed to all founding American principles and values. But Republicans get no free pass here either. The party which once stood up to Democratic Socialists in defense of the real American Dream, has in recent years joined the Left in an only slightly slower march into Democratic Socialism. As a result, all elected members of the federal government enjoy the lowest approval ratings in U.S. history. Lower than the President!

Today’s Democrats call themselves “the Party of the Working Class, the poor, the downtrodden.” They promise to rob from “the rich” for the betterment of the poor. In other words, they are selling exactly what Marx, Lenin and Stalin and many other Communists have sold over the years, “From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his need.”

Same Change – New Name
Socialized medicine is being sold as “universal health care” – government ownership or control of the nation’s vast natural resources is being sold as “environmentalism” – Freedom of Religion is now being sold as “freedom from religion,” in accordance with the Marx view that “The first requirement for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.” Today’s federal charade called government, may march toward Socialism before you will realize what has been done?

We are seeing the emergence of a false "messianic" state. In order to incorporate an essential religious theme into their campaign message, liberal candidates and political commentators have presented a socialist reinterpretation of The Sermon on the Mount as the true biblical model, and Obama uses the reference freely.

Our problem is not whether we are ready for the first minority president, or the first women president. The question is whether America's good is best served, in either case, by a potential leader that will lurch us further toward socialism than George McGovern would have in 1972.

Hillary Clinton recently stated it quite clearly, “We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” Nikita Khrushchev said it this way, “Comrades! We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all” and apparently, today’s Democrat Party is united in this belief system. Remember Joseph Stalin once said:" We do not have to defeat America in war. We will destroy it from within".
