COMPARING FDR’S SPEECH WITH OBAMA AT WEST POINT

Thursday, December 03, 2009

What if on December 8th, 1941, President Roosevelt said to Congress instead of the following words, the speech that Obama gave at West Point?

Roosevelt said: “ Yesterday, Dec. 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with the government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific.
It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
As commander-in-chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.
Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.
With confidence in our armed forces – with the unbounding determination of our people – we will gain the inevitable triumph – so help us God!”.

Now compare these words that President Obama said to the Nation on television and to the West Point cadets who will be graduating in the spring and sent to fight the war in Afghanistan.

“As President, I refuse to set goals that go beyond our responsibility, our means, or our interests. And I must weigh all of the challenges that our nation faces. I don’t have the luxury of committing to just one. Indeed, I’m mindful of the words of President Eisenhower, who — in discussing our national security — said, “Each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs.”
Over the past several years, we have lost that balance. We’ve failed to appreciate the connection between our national security and our economy. In the wake of an economic crisis, too many of our neighbors and friends are out of work and struggle to pay the bills. Too many Americans are worried about the future facing our children. Meanwhile, competition within the global economy has grown more fierce. So we can’t simply afford to ignore the price of these wars”.

FDR spoke in the middle of the Great Depression, but he unlike Obama was not mixing the will to defeat an enemy that attacked the USA and killed thousands of Americans with his ability to Socialize the USA economy. His message(Roosevelt) was we need to defeat this enemy at all costs!

Only a man with no military experience and a mind-set that was formed while being a Community Organizer would equate paying for the fight to defeat an enemy who attacked us with the economy that he hopes to socialize!
Not only does this send a defeatist message to the enemy , but it a demoralizing effect on the troops in the field of battle.

What Obama said can only be interpreted as we have to spend only what we can afford to support the war, but we can run the printing presses in the basement of the Treasury Department 24 hours a day to pay for pork and  social/welfare programs!

If FDR had put this type of language in his message to Congress the Day after Pearl Harbor. The whole of Europe and England would be speaking german and we would probably have been subject to the rule of the Japanese Emperor!

THE NAIVETE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA, OR IS HE?

Friday, October 02, 2009

"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!"...Winston Churchill

On March 27, following a "careful policy review," Mr. Obama proclaimed Afghanistan and Pakistan as "the central front in the war on terror," announced a "comprehensive new strategy" for the region and ordered 21,000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan -- increasing the number of Americans there to 68,000 by the end of this year. A month and a half later, he made Gen. Stanley McChrystal -- an advocate of pursuing a counterinsurgency campaign -- the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan. On Aug. 17, the president declared: "This is not a war of choice; it is a war of necessity. Those who attacked America on 9/11 are plotting to do so again. If left unchecked, the Taliban insurgency will mean an even larger safe haven from which al-Qaida could plot to kill more Americans."Source:PatriotPost.com

IT APPEARS TO ME THAT OBAMA HAS A VERY SHORT MEMORY, OR PERHAPS SOMETHING THAT IS TOO HORRIBLE TO CONTEMPLATE, THE ANTI-WAR 50 CONGRESSMEN LED BY "RED" PELOSI HAS CHANGED OBAMA'S MIND!

It was just six months ago in Prague that Obama said:  “Let me be clear: Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile activity poses a real threat, not just to the United States, but to Iran’s neighbors and our allies. The Czech Republic and Poland have been courageous in agreeing to host a defense against these missiles. As long as the threat from Iran persists, we intend to go forward with a missile defense system that is cost-effective and proven..”
But last month he canceled the plans to build a missile base in Poland and a radar station to track incoming
enemy missiles in the Czech Republic. This after both countries, that were over run by the Communist USSR during World war II, had defied Russian objections to the bases! This now puts hundreds of thousands of people in both countries at the wrath of Putin and his KGB buddies!

Historian  Bernard Lewis has warned, the U.S. can’t afford to tell the world that “America is harmless as an enemy and treacherous as a friend.” Yet we’re doing exactly that by abandoning promises to our allies and failing to share the benefits of our missile defenses. Canceling the planned sites is a self-inflicted wound we cannot afford. Source: E. Feulner

If this were not enough to enbolden our enemies and strike terror in the hearts of those who count on our military might to protect them. Then the dithering about the request for more troops from the commander in Afghanistan should convince them that they have a leader of the USA that is naive and indicesive that makes him no match for their determination to destroy US and Israel!

Could you imagine FDR having three meetings with his miliatry advisors that took over thirty days after Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese? No FDR declared war the next day and began plans for Doolittle's bombing raid on Tokyo!
But we have a president who recieved a request from the field commander for more troops over 30 days ago, and all he has done since then is have a teleconference meeting with three more scheduled before he makes his decision! And then left to travel to Denmark to help persuade the Olympic Committee to grant Chicago the 2016 Olympics!
And to make the situation more dangerous. Fifty(50) Congressmen sent a letter demanding that Obama not send more troops to Afghanistan before a complete exit strategy is formed. This is insanity and in my opinion tantamont to defeatism, and that is what the anti-victory people want1

But any right thinking person realizes that if we let the Taliban drive us out of Afghanistan it will become the 21sr Century version of VietNam and will destroy the military might and MORALE  that this Country once had.

Is it possible that is part of the master plan that POTUS has for the CHANGE he wants to accomplish?

FEAR IS THE BEST MEANS OF COERCION!!

Saturday, July 18, 2009

There are many similarities to the way the Obama administration is approaching our economic crisis with that of the icon of Democrat politics, FDR.
The difference is that Obama is using fear to coerce the American public to get behind his Socialisation of a major portion of the economic engine of the USA.He and the Democrats are using fear to move the Socialised medicine bill through Congress by running adds on TV that tug at your heart strings. The add Includes pictures of a child who will not be treated for his/her Leukemia if we don't pass his Health Care Bill NOW!
This a complete lie! The No Child Left Behind Act. Prevents this type of catastrophe!George W. Bush used this phrase, trademarked by the CDF, in his Presidential campaign despite objections from CDF.Everything has to be done now. Nothing can wait to beread, deliberated and debated or like chicken little, "the sky will fall"!
In reality as these socialised plans see the light of day, and are analysed by honest economists without a special interest. The people will realize that what he is proposing will hurt our economy not help it!!

It is worth the time to look at history to see the comparisons and stark differences between what FDR did and what Obama is doing!
Whereas, FDR had this to say in his inaugural address in 1934. "So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear... is fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days".

FDR gave the people hope that he would turn things around, and history will show that he failed at first, but the Japanese and Hitler came to his rescue. The war made the USA and economic Juggernaut as it provided arms, material and food stuffs for Russia, England and our troops!

FDR and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt, remain touchstones for modern American liberalism. Roosevelt's administration redefined American liberalism and realigned the Democratic Party based on his New Deal coalition of labor unions; farmers; ethnic, religious and racial minorities; intellectuals; the South; big city machines; and the poor and workers on relief. Beginning with his inauguration address, Roosevelt began blaming the economic crisis on bankers and financiers, the quest for profit, and the self-interest basis of capitalism:

“ Primarily this is because rulers of the exchange of mankind's goods have failed through their own stubbornness and their own incompetence, have admitted their failure, and have abdicated. Practices of the unscrupulous money changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men. True they have tried, but their efforts have been cast in the pattern of an outworn tradition. Faced by failure of credit they have proposed only the lending of more money. Stripped of the lure of profit by which to induce our people to follow their false leadership, they have resorted to exhortations, pleading tearfully for restored confidence....The money changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of the restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit. ”

Historians categorized Roosevelt's program as "relief, recovery and reform." Relief was urgently needed by tens of millions of unemployed. Recovery meant boosting the economy back to normal. Reform meant long-term fixes of what was wrong, especially with the financial and banking systems. Roosevelt's series of radio talks, known as fireside chats, presented his proposals directly to the American public.

Recovery was pursued through "pump-priming" (that is, federal spending). The NIRA included $3.3 billion of spending through the Public Works Administration to stimulate the economy, which was to be handled by Interior Secretary Harold Ickes. Roosevelt worked with Republican Senator George Norris to create the largest government-owned industrial enterprise in American history, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which built dams and power stations, controlled floods, and modernized agriculture and home conditions in the poverty-stricken Tennessee Valley. The repeal of prohibition also brought in new tax revenues and helped him keep a major campaign promise.

The "First New Deal" (March 4th, 1933) was aimed at meeting the needs of practically all major groups, from banking and railroads to industry and farming. The New Deal innovated with banking reform laws, work relief programs, agricultural programs, and industrial reform (the National Recovery Administration, NRA), and the end of the gold standard.[3]

A "Second New Deal" (Tuesday, 14th May, 1935) included labor union support, the Works Progress Administration (WPA) relief program, the Social Security Act, and programs to aid the agricultural sector, including tenant farmers and migrant workers. The Supreme Court ruled several programs unconstitutional; however, most were soon replaced, with the exception of the NRA. The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 was the last major program launched, which set maximum hours and minimum wages for most categories of workers.[4]
The Supreme Court ruled several programs unconstitutional and most were soon replaced, with the exception of the NRA. The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 was the last major program launched, which set maximum hours and minimum wages for most categories of workers.

And if we think that the Media has turned hard left to help out Obama only recently
The premise is faulty as history shows that in 1937, the FSA photography project was most responsible for creating the image of the Depression in the U.S. Many of the images appeared in popular magazines. The photographers were under instruction from Washington as to what overall impression the New Deal wanted to give out.
Sound familiar?

Director Roy Stryker's agenda focused on his faith in social engineering, the poor conditions among cotton tenant farmers, and the very poor conditions among migrant farm workers; above all he was committed to social reform through New Deal intervention in people's lives. Stryker demanded photographs that "related people to the land and vice versa" because these photographs reinforced the RA's position that poverty could be controlled by "changing land practices." Though Stryker did not dictate to his photographers how they should compose the shots, he did send them lists of desirable themes, such as "church", "court day", "barns". New Deal era films such as Citizen Kane ridiculed so-called "great men", while class warfare appeared in numerous movies, such as Meet John Doe and The Grapes of Wrath.

One thing different from the way the Obama administration is going about there alleged attempt to end the failing economy is the The Economy Act, drafted by Budget Director Lewis Williams Douglas, was passed on March 14, 1933. The act proposed to balance the "regular" (non-emergency) federal budget by cutting the salaries of government employees and cutting pensions to veterans by fifteen percent. It saved $500 million per year and reassured deficit hawks such as Douglas that the new President was fiscally conservative. Roosevelt argued there were two budgets: the "regular" federal budget, which he balanced, and the "emergency budget," which was needed to defeat the depression; it was imbalanced on a temporary basis. The Democrats had not yet abandoned the concept of spending only within the ability of the taxpayers to pay for their spending!

Not unlike the Obama administration's actions when their support began slipping. The Roosevelt Administration was under assault during FDR's second term, which presided over a new dip in the Great Depression in the fall of 1937 that continued through most of 1938. Production declined sharply, as did profits and employment. Unemployment jumped from 14.3% in 1937 to 19.0% in 1938.Conservatives said it was caused by attacks on business and by the huge strikes caused by the organizing activities of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) and the American Federation of Labor (AFL).FDR was solidly backed by the unions. Sound familiar?

Roosevelt rejected the advice of Morgenthau to cut spending and decided big business were trying to ruin the New Deal by causing another depression that voters would react against by voting Republican. It was a "capital strike" said Roosevelt, and he ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to look for a criminal conspiracy (they found none). Roosevelt moved left and unleashed a rhetorical campaign against monopoly power, which was cast as the cause of the new crisis. Ickes attacked automaker Henry Ford, steelmaker Tom Girdler, and the superrich "Sixty Families" who supposedly comprised "the living center of the modern industrial oligarchy which dominates the United States."[45] Left unchecked, Ickes warned, they would create "big-business Fascist America—an enslaved America." The President appointed Robert Jackson as the aggressive new director of the antitrust division of the Justice Department, but this effort lost its effectiveness once World War II began and big business was urgently needed to produce war supplies.
I believe Obama and his inner circle are following FDR's "play book"!

Not unlike today's poll numbers, when the Gallup poll in 1939 asked, 'Do you think the attitude of the Roosevelt administration toward business is delaying business recovery?' the American people responded 'yes' by a margin of more than two-to-one. The business community felt even more strongly so"
Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau, angry at the Keynesian spenders, confided to his diary May 1939: "We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started. And enormous debt to boot."
I believe we are heading in the same direction as Morgenthau believed!

OBAMA IS NO JOHN KENNEDY, NOT EVEN FDR AND FORGET LINCOLN COMPARISON

The arrogance and audacity of the new President in office only 50 days is illustrated by his response to questions from those who believe he may be taking on too many issues at one time.
In a speech on his 50th day in office outlining his plans to reform education, Mr Obama said: "I know there are some who believe we can only handle one challenge at a time."

Obama recalled that "Lincoln had laid the transcontinental railway during the civil war, that Roosevelt "didn't have the luxury of choosing between ending a depression and fighting a war" and Kennedy didn't "have the luxury of choosing between civil rights and sending us to the moon".

"And we don't have the luxury of choosing between getting our economy moving now and rebuilding it over the long term," he said.

The president and his advisers believe that unless they begin to fix long-term problems now, short-term efforts to save jobs and revive credit flow will be useless.

Mr. Obama has not only passed a $787 billion (£542 billion) stimulus bill but introduced a budget that looks ahead ten years and contains ambitious plans for reforming health care, energy and education, setting the stage for several time-consuming and draining legislative battles over the next two years. Every day seems to bring a new policy speech or the announcement of a forum or initiative.

Even supporters are questioning whether or not the president would be better advised to concentrate all or most of his fire on reviving the economy, and in particular, finalising the details of saving the banking sector.

Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor and an early of support of Mr Obama, has criticised the government for a "muddled message". David Brooks, a sympathetic if conservative columnist for the New York Times said that "Democrats apparently think that dealing with the crisis is a part-time job, which leaves the afternoons free to work on long-range plans to reform education, health care, energy and a dozen smaller things".

To begin with Kennedy openly stated that Americans were taxed too much, and had little to do with the Civil Rights legislation that made Blacks and people of color equal to white people. President, Kennedy initially believed the grassroots movement for civil rights would only anger many Southern whites and make it even more difficult to pass civil rights laws through Congress, which was dominated by Southern Democrats, and he distanced himself from it. As a result, many civil rights leaders viewed Kennedy as unsupportive of their efforts.
And Kennedy was certainly pro-military not a diplomacy freak like Obama.

And somebody should tell Obama that JFK.jr. had the FBI wiretap the telephones of hundreds of suspected Communists including Martin Luther KIng, jr.!

AS for FDR. All his NRA and welfare programs pushed the USA deeper into the depression, and the War saved us from bankruptcy. And by the way the American people bought Victory Bonds to help pay for the weapons of war, the Government did not print billions of worthless dollars to finance the war effort.During his three terms the average unemployment was 13% with a high of 17.2%!
He redeined modern Liberalism with a coalition of labor unions, racial minorities, intellectuals, big city machines and people on the public dole(Relief).
He also cut the military veterans benefits by 40%, and removed over 500,000 widows and veterans from government pension rolls! I harldy think Obama wants to have the public reminded of these facts.

Then there is Abraham Lincoln. He was not in favor of freeing the slaves in the states that would agree to stay in the Union, and he was a Republican who spoke what he meant and did what he promised he would do.In other words, "he talked the talk and walked the walk". He wasn't a double talking President whose promises were steeped in Left wing philosophy. He tried to maintain the Union of States, not separate the people by highlighting class hatred! His enemy was the break away South, not the Capitalist system.

NRA SYBOLISM WAS A BAD CHOICE FOR OBAMA

SAY GOODBYE TO THE BLUE EAGLE!

Thanks to J. R. Dunn who wrote an article in today's "AMERICAN THINKER", I have another point to make about the ineptitude of the Democratic selection to run for President.
Only a person who has no knowledge of recent history, at least the last 65 years is not considered ancient history, would know that the vain attempt to revitalize a failing economy by establishing the NRA was one of FDR'S blunders.
As you can see from the following excerpt of the article, Roosevelt's attempt to socialize business including closing the banks was an abject failure. It took the Japanese to salvage our economy when they bombed Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. This put in motion the machine that is derogatorily refereed to as the military industrial complex.
Many people believe that the Democrat President had prior knowledge of the planned Japanese attack, and let it happen so the USA could regain it's economy on a war time economic machine. It is unkind to say ill of the dead, so I will defer to Roosevelt, and say as did the critics of Bush , that he had bad intelligence.
The result was the greatest war time manufacturing machine in the history of the world. Tool and die makers, "Rosy the riviters" and automobile companies turned out enough planes, ships, tanks and guns to supply not only our troops, but the British, French and Russians. We won the war, but Roosevelt died, and never saw the results of his war machine.

Why Obama allowed himself to be photographed with the symbol of the NRA superimposed over a make-over of the presidential seal is beyond understanding!
It was completely overlooked (as far as I've seen, anyway) that a direct inspiration for the seal was the public symbol for one of Franklin D. Roosevelt's greatest policy disasters. An eagle, a blue background: Blue Eagle. Which happens to have been the emblem of the National Recovery Administration (NRA). FDR's attempt to beat the Depression by collectivizing(aka socializing) the U.S. economy.

"The NRA was the centerpiece of the "Hundred Days", FDR's whirlwind law-passing spree following his inauguration. It was the work of "brain trusters" Rexford G. Tugwell and Adolf Berle, adapted directly from Mussolini's "corporative" system.

The NRA attempted to "organize" the U.S. economy from the largest corporations to the smallest Mom n' Pop store. Businesses were encouraged to sign up with the proviso that they would be able to write their own rules for their industries, effectively turning them into cartels. Member businesses were allowed to place the Blue Eagle in their windows, along with the slogan "We Do Our Part".

Businesses were required to pay minimum wage, abandon child labor, and adapt wage and price controls. As for businesses that held out... well, the NRA was run by an ex-general, Hugh Johnson, who, to put it kindly, was not Colin Powell. Johnson took the Mussolini connection to heart, declaring all businesses not displaying the Blue Eagle to be "enemies of the people", and encouraging the public to boycott them, if not worse.

But it was even more dangerous for companies that signed up. Businessmen were jailed for breaking NRA rules, and goon squads roamed the streets of Manhattan looking for violators The story is told in detail in Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascim. The Secret History of the American Left and Amity Shlae's The Forgotten Man. A New History of the Great Depression.

How this nonsense was supposed to end the Depression is anybody's guess. In short order, it ran afoul of the Supreme Court, which on May 27, 1935, found the NRA illegal in Schechter Poultry Corporation v. United States, the so-called "sick chicken" case. The Court struck down the NRA as an unconstitutional extension of executive power. Roosevelt was forced to drastically modify his plans for the economy".

This "empty suit" who speaks well only when he has a teleprompter, will be exposed for his lack of knowledge about anything other than left wing thinking, when the debates begin. He has tripped over his own tongue numerous times up to this point. If the people who run the televised debates are honest about their questions, don't let him know before what they are, he will be exposed for the PROSELYTE he is. He is trying to play a professional game with no prior experience in the field of battle, and I would hate to think of what he would do when the"red phone rings in the night", and it will!
